Atlus says it is “aware that there is an optimization issue” with the ReFantazio – Prologue demo on Steam.
In a brief statement on
Fans have taken to Steam’s reviews section to share their experiences, and while the demo has a “mostly positive” user review score out of around 600 reviews, some have criticized its performance.
“I’m a big fan of Atlus games and this has exciting potential, but the performance of this demo leaves a lot to be desired,” said one less than impressed player.
“My system should have no trouble hitting 120fps in a game with these specs. Hopefully this will be resolved before release, in which case I’ll happily change this review, but as of now I can’t recommend it.”
“I just need a little more optimization, everything else is perfect,” another added.
“Thank you to everyone who downloaded and played the Metaphor: ReFantazio – Prologue Demo! We are aware that there is an optimization issue on Steam and are actively working to address this issue,” Atlus said.
“We will share updates, including patch release information, via our official social media platforms as they become available. We greatly appreciate your patience and continued support of Metaphor: ReFantazio!”

“Fans of SMT and Persona will have an easy time getting into Metaphor. But more importantly, this is a fresh start for both Atlus and new fans,” Ed wrote in his great Metaphor preview.
“This expansive, detailed and complex RPG (both structurally and thematically) is incredibly ambitious. But even from this preview, it’s clear that this will set a new high bar for Atlus, and – if the final game all comes together – perhaps even the RPG genre itself.”
