Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 tablets unveiled, complete with AI features, S Pen

Samsung is betting big on artificial intelligence, with two new tablets with large screens, a premium price tag and a dedicated AI button on their keyboard covers, which are available separately.

The company on Thursday announced its new Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, which comes with a 14.6-inch display, and its sibling, the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus. According to Samsung, these are the first tablets that are ‘purpose-built for AI’. The AI improvements come in the form of more processing power to make AI tasks more responsive; home AI device management software; and other tweaks including improved handwriting conversion and multi-speaker transcription.

As for the handwriting upgrade, both devices, priced from $1,200 (£1,199) and $1,000 (£999) respectively, come with an S Pen stylus and AMOLED anti-glare screens. Samsung has not yet released images or pricing information for the Book Cover Keyboard accessories that come with these tablets and include the AI button. Australian prices have also not been announced.

The company said its Samsung.com store and Best Buy will offer a trade-in of up to $800 for both tablets. Pre-orders have already started and the tablets are expected to be available on October 3 in moonstone gray and platinum silver.

Apart from the AI features, both tablets are equipped with Wi-Fi 7, have 13 plus 8 megapixel ultra-wide cameras on the back and 12 megapixel ultra-wide cameras on the front. In addition to the ultrawide, the Ultra model also has a 12 megapixel camera on the front. Both include microSD slots to expand storage capacity beyond the various sizes they come in, from 256GB to 1TB for the Ultra and 256GB to 512GB for the S10 Plus.

The Ultra packs an 11,200mAh battery, while the S10 Plus packs a 10,090mAh battery. Both charge at 45 watts.
