The Phantom X is coming to Steam, but there’s a catch

Atlus has announced that mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom is coming to Steam, albeit only for Japanese fans. Persona 5: The Phantom is a mobile and PC spin-off of the main game, in which players take on the role of a high school student and become the Phantom Thief codenamed Wonder. Unlike the main Persona titles, which are lengthy RPGs, The Phantom is similar to gacha games like Genshin impact And Tower of fantasy. Despite the genre shift, it’s largely the same spirit Person 5while players can opt for Phantom Idols and their Persona II, which are essentially new Phantom Thieves and Personas that they use as party members.




Persona 5: The Phantom was mainly marketed as a game exclusive to the Chinese market, as mainland China never got the original Person 5. As such, P5X is intended as a native release for the region. That said, many fans have been calling for an international release of Persona 5: The Phantomwith this question surprising even the developers themselves. While Persona 5: The Phantom is already available to play on PC and mobile devices in China and other parts of Asia, the game is finally coming to Steam, albeit only on the Japanese client.

This announcement was posted to the official Persona 5: The Phantom Japanese Twitter account, where this account was created before the Tokyo Game Show 2024 event. P5X was also playable on the show floor alongside other games such as Metaphor: ReFantazio. The official Twitter announced that pre-registration for P5XThe closed beta version is open and appears on iOS, Android and PC. The Japanese customer of P5X will be available on Google Play Games and Steam.



Persona 5: The Phantom

Although this client is Japanese only, fans follow Persona 5: The Phantom were happy that they didn’t have to install a third-party client to play and could just do it through Steam. Furthermore, as Atlus confirmed that there were plans for an international release of P5X during an offline event in July, any kind of Steam release for the game is a good sign.


Atlus confirmed that too Persona 5: The Phantom will come to consoles after the game’s international release. P5X is also planned to have crossovers with others Persona games, with Person 5 Royal, Person 3 ReloadAnd Person 4 Golden in the pipeline. Atlus has already made an outline for the end of P5X too, and it is currently being refined. In the meantime, P5X is currently focusing on its crossovers with the original Person 5and adds more content and Phantom Idol characters for players to draw.
